Church spires are distinguished symbols of the historical downtown of the City of Frederick. Many of these churches were transformed as hospitals to treat the sick, wounded and dying soldiers during the Civil War in the aftermath of battles in Antietam and South Mountain in 1862. The last three pictures were taken from Carroll Creek Park at different seasons of the year.
