The center piece of the park is the Japanese style Pavilion in the middle of lake, built in 1908 during the Japanese occupation period of Taiwan. The revisit of the park bring back my memory when visiting the park for the first time as a 4th grader on the school trip. That was some 60 years ago when we rode the steam-engine train from my home town, Kaohsiung to Taichung for probably 5 hours, now, with High Speed Train for 40 minutes.
