Great Falls in Black and White

B&W, Landscape, Photography

Great Falls of Potomac is one of my favorite photo spots in the Washington, DC area. The rocks are in grey and black color (except during morning sun) so it’s ideal for B&W photographs.

These are fantastic images, Stephen. Exciting and beautiful. Love the heron silhouetted by the water with the triangular rocks and crashing falls. Great set.

Thank you, Jane. Your post of B&W images last week inspired me to look for some monochrome shots I had at the Great Falls. Being the grey rocks and white water seem to be ideal to produce some B&W images, though I did have some nice autumn color shots in the early morning with golden reflection of rocks in the same area. Thanks again for looking and glad you like them.

Thank you very much for sharing. I am deeply impressed by these B&W Great Falls photos. All of them look very powerful. I have a complete feeling from those in color Lien-fu Huang

Great Falls being basically grey/black rock and white water is ideal for converting to B&W that show more dramatic scenes. Thank you for visiting and appreciated your comments.
