Etosha Rhino

It was a rare opportunity to see a rhino approaching our vehicle and as it turned out he was trying to cross the roadway to the other side of field. It did provide excellent photo opportunities in relative close range. What a treat to see this massive but magnificent animal but wait, the mighty horn was missing, why, the tour guide told us the rhino was dehorned to avoid being killed by the poacher. The horn will be growing back but to avoid being killed by the poacher for the high priced horn it will have to be dehorned again. What a poor animal! Here is the website if you what to know more about the practice of de-horning. https://www.savetherhino.org/rhino_info/issues_for_debate/de-horning
