We took a detour to Assateague National Seashore after visiting Chincoteague NWR last Sunday. We were lucky to encounter many wild horses (ponies) in the park.

Quite a long time ago I visited the island to see the ponies and photograph a few. We were there just before the roundup, pony swim, and drive into Chincoteague for the annual fire department festival and auction of some of the foals.

I always want to go there during roundup but have not made yet so far. Maybe this year, should the pandemic restrictions lift, OMG better not last that long!
