Mackinac Bridge, long-span suspension bridge, spanning the Mackinac Straits from the Upper to the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, is the third longest suspension bridge in the United States, after the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge; it is the 25th longest in the world. It was built in 1950’s and open for traffic in 1957. Mackinac Channel connects Lake Huron and Lake Michigan is an integral part of Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Waterways.
