King and Gentoo Penguins at Falkland Islands

We just got back from a wonderful 14-day Antarctica Cruise this week. The cruise started from Buenos Aires, Argentina, first sailed through the Patagonia region of Chile (Punta Arenas) and Argentina (Ushuaia) and then headed south toward Antarctica Península and cruised through South Shetland Islands and Elephant Island and finally on the way back to Buenos Aires, stopped at Falkland Islands. This last stop turned out to be the highlights of this cruise trip and that’s what I am posting here – the beautiful King penguins and Gentoo penguins. I’ll be posting more on other wildlife we encountered and of course, the incredible landscape, later.

Thank you, seeing king penguins was definitely the highlight of the trip.

      • Certainly! How was the cruise in general? I’ve heard that the sea there is pretty rough, especially when crossing the Drake Passage.

  1. Nice pictures of these beautiful and at the same time funny penguins. Must be great to see them in the wild, we only know them from the zoo.
