It was 8 degrees (-13 degrees C.) when I woke up this morning and there was the “resident” red-shouldered hawk perching on the top of tree branch under the beautiful golden morning light. How could anyone resist in capturing the scene!

How wonderful to start a day with such a pleasant surprise! From the warm light shown in your photo, it’s hard to tell this hawk is in below freezing point temperature.
I always wonder where the birds hide at night to survive the sub-freezing temperature. This hawk kept looking down to the ground looking for any “moving target”, such as squirrel for breakfast!
