Snow Geese at Bosque del Apache

In addition to sandhill cranes, the Bosque is also the winter home for thousands and thousands of snow geese. We were lucky to witness their “dawn fly out” from the “Flight Deck” overlook one early and cold morning. The sunrise was spectacular and to see flocks of snow geese taking off was simply rewarding, though the “lift offs” we witnessed in Bombay and Prime Hooks National Wildlife Refuges in Delaware over the years were far more impressive! Nevertheless, the scenery here at Bosque just could be beat!
