We visited Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area just north of Lancaster, PA last weekend. It was a spring like weather so the birdwatchers and photographers came out in record numbers to watch the snow geese and tundra swans that are stopping over here before heading north to their breeding grounds in Canadian Arctic. When we arrived at the Willow Point on the lake at 6:00am, about an hour before sunrise on Sunday we were surprised to find a big crowd already, as a matter of fact, we could not even find a good photo spot for tripod. Instead I just stood back from the crowd and watch the expression of the birdwatchers as the snow geese lifting off from the lake.
I did take some pictures of snow geese on Saturday. The number of snow geese was estimated to be 50,000 by the park ranger.
There were also estimated to be a few thousands tundra swans in the lake. I always enjoy taking pictures of flying swans with such graceful gesture.
