Conowingo Dam on lower Sesquehanna River is located in northeastern Maryland, about 90 miles from Washington, DC. Each year in November through December there are a number of migrating bald eagles from the north joining the resident eagles, not unusual to have a total of 200-300 congregate below the dam making a great place for viewing and photographing these national birds. I have been going there in the past several years but still get excited to see how they snatch the fish out of the water and probably by their nature, fighting for the “prize” by the other competitors.
We arrived in time to get a nice sunrise shot:
Here is the sequence of a bald eagle snatching a fish out of the water:
Then fly over to a tree to enjoy his sashimi breakfast:
An interesting shot of the shadow of bald eagle landing on a pier:
The fighting of fish in midair and ended up losing it (see the fish in the air):
and finally a “supersonic” bald eagle flying over:
Enjoy!
I have enjoyed your beautiful and amazing photos.
Thank you
